Privacy Policy

Preethi Neethi Jyothi ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the My Shrine app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information — when you create an account, we store your email address and a securely salted, hashed password. We do not store your password in plain text.
• Profile & birth details — if you complete onboarding or create a Kundali, we store details you provide such as name, gender, date, time and place of birth, and your chosen preferences (ista devatha, sadhana interests). These are used to compute and display your birth chart and personalised content.
• Location — with your permission, we use your device's approximate location to show accurate Panchang (sunrise/sunset, muhurta) and "near me" temple sorting. You can decline and instead pick a city manually.
• Community & contributions — content you post (threads, replies, temple contributions) is stored so it can be shown in the App.
• On-device data — sadhana counts, sankalpa, spiritual diary entries, visit logs, theme, language and notification preferences are stored locally on your device. Your diary is private and is not uploaded.
• Notification token — if you enable notifications, we store a push token to deliver reminders and announcements.
• Basic technical data — limited device/diagnostic information may be processed to keep the App working reliably.

2. How We Use Your Information

• to provide core features — temples, calendar, Panchang, Kundali, sadhana and community;
• to personalise content such as your birth chart, daily guidance and language;
• to send notifications you have opted into;
• to maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the App.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Storage & Security

Account, profile, Kundali and community data are stored in a cloud database (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore). Passwords are protected using salted cryptographic hashing. Some data lives only on your device. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

4. Third-Party Services

The App relies on a small number of third-party services:

• Google Firebase — authentication data storage, cloud database and push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
• Open-Meteo — worldwide city search / geocoding for location selection.
• Wikipedia — temple description extracts fetched on demand.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We share only what is necessary for the feature to work.

5. Location Data

Location access is optional and used only to compute location-aware Panchang and to sort temples by distance. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings and choose a city manually instead.

6. Notifications

Notifications are opt-in and organised by category (festivals, community, reminders, app updates). You can turn any category off inside the App or disable notifications entirely from your device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.

8. Data Retention

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. On-device data remains until you clear it or uninstall the App. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. To delete your account and associated data, see Delete Your Account.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are indicated by the "Last updated" date above. Please review it periodically.
